Showering Coworkers with Appreciation

By Christine Williams

It's important to show employees and co-workers how much you appreciate and value their contribution. With March being Employee Appreciation Month, it's a reminder to the take time to say "thanks."

One of the best ways to show co-workers you value them is by specifically telling them what they do well and what you admire. Expressing thanks verbally is an encouraging way to build up fellow co-workers. Showing interest in your colleagues communicates you value and care about them and want to hear about their lives, their family and events.

Forbes states 53% of employees would stay at their company longer if they felt more appreciation from their boss. In addition, 81% said they're motivated to work harder when their boss shows appreciation for their work. You may not be the boss, but expressing appreciation is a strong motivator. Research shows that employees find personal recognition more motivating than money. So while a raise or bonus from the boss is a great surprise, valued words go a long way.

And last, but certainly not least, Forbes reports that another motivator is unexpected treats and awards. Of course we loved this one! Have lunch at the office, celebrate birthdays or bring in doughnuts. It will boost the morale of the office. Just give us a call and we'll take care of it!
